Making Local Businesses Stronger
The Center for International Trade Development is wholly focused on enhancing the competitive strength of local businesses in the international marketplace by providing export trade research, education and training. Specific to the San Joaquin Valley region, the Fresno CITD offers extensive knowledge relating to the import and export of agricultural products. This expertise demystifies the complexities of international commerce, saving local companies valuable time and money, while also greatly enhancing the potential for success.

Building a Pattern of Success
The Fresno CITD office began in 1989 as The Export Center. In 1998, it was officially designated as one of 14 CITD offices in the State of California. The Center provides a central contact point for local businesses seeking international trade opportunities, marketing information, resources, counseling, technical assistance and training. Since its inception, nearly 2,000 Valley businesses have taken advantage of these services, which are usually provided at no cost or for a nominal fee. In 2003, the Fresno CITD facilitated $15 million in new export sales.

Networking on an International Level
Each CITD office is affiliated with a local community college, and works with federal, state and private agencies to further trade opportunities around the world. Under the auspices of the State Center Community College District, the Fresno CITD has facilitated the import and export of products to and from more than 90 nations. Each established trade partnership smoothes the way for future transactions, creating greater opportunities for Valley businesses.

Trading with Mexico
Since 1999, the CITDs have also served as California-Mexico Trade Assistance Centers. This designation allows for the promotion of trade opportunities with Mexico, resulting in increased business revenue and jobs. The CITD provides logistics support, training, and trade missions to companies interested in trade with Mexico.
