2004 – Project
of the Year Award, University Economic
Development Association
This award recognized
the Center for International Trade
Development in Fresno for utilizing
videoconferencing to host a virtual
food tasting. The collaborative project
brought together international food
buyers with domestic sellers, without
either party having to leave their respective
countries. The award criteria included:
program results, economic impact, and
the use of innovative strategies in solving
problems.
2002 – Hispanic
Serving Institutions Fellows Program
Director,
Candy Hansen, was selected to take
part in this USDA-sponsored fellowship
program. Her participation led to the
establishment of many beneficial contacts
on a national level, and opened the
door to additional trade funding opportunities
for Valley businesses, particularly
in the agricultural export arena.
2001 – President’s
E-Star Award, U.S. Department of Commerce
The
President’s E-Star Award
for Excellence in Exporting is the nation’s
highest honor for achievement in the
exporting field, and designates the Fresno
Center for International Trade Development
as one of the finest facilities of its
type in the United States. The “E” Award
for Export Services recognizes organizations,
such as the Fresno CITD, that may not
export directly, but assist or facilitate
exporting efforts, and demonstrate substantial
export volume increases over a four-year
period of time.

Recognized for establishing the San
Joaquin Valley International Trade Association.
